Devastating Poll Results (WaPo/ABC Poll 10/8-11/08)

Browsing the internals of the Washington Post polling data, and wanted to share some of the more interesting highlights.  I think that Obama's performance is a giant lawn dart skewering McCains hope to appeal to undecideds and moderates.

I've already been sold, I'm just trying to look through the eyes of undecideds, moderates, and perhaps some actual old-school conservatives.

These are just a couple of items that amused me the most.  The trends are even more devastating and can be found here:

Or, the son of some of them?

Chris Buckley came out in support of Obama, I think his Old Man would have NOT gone that far, but clearly he would have been skewering McCain for running a campaign this bad.

The next think these guys are not expecting is, Obama Axelrod are going to (my guess) do plenty of things to basically freeze out the news cycles in the next two weeks.

Expect some major announcements, along the idea of cabinet posts, or an economic team.

McCain will be stuck just in response mode, and he is already spinning around like top!

Re: and perhaps some actual old-school (none / 0)

The debate pacing and performance have actually worked really well for Obama and let him maintain momentum, providing we see similar this week that will carry things over until the 1/2 hour ad buy peep are talking about late this month (29th?). A major appearance every 2 weeks until the election to remind people to chill out and vote Obama.

Healthcare, Healthcare, Healthcare (none / 0)

If Obama want so far as to make it clear that he would dramatically change things for those who are not in a medical group who have any kind of medical issue, and on uncovered costs for the insured, then he would seal the deal. Without that, I think he still has a vulnerability there that could result in his losing the election. Don't underestimate the power of the GOP to swing elections using things like voter disenfranchisement.

Seriously, people are freaking out about healthcare costs, and simply offering vague promises for 2012 is not going to reassure anybody.

Its not enough.

The promise of ashes (none / 0)

He (Obama) doesn't have to posit a thing.  McCain's horrorshow of a healthplan would be enough for me to vote for ANYone else.

I literally would be bankrupt if McCain's plan was implemented.  I live on my disability (LTD) and was fortunate enough to work for a company that a.)offered LTD and b.)pays for me and my wife's insurance.

In the past 2 years, my premiums have gone from $0 with a $25 copay to $2500/person + $100 copay (just for a PCP visit), and I consider myself LUCKY!  My company's offset is $900/month ($9600/year), and I have a chronic condition with

NO chance of improvement (neuropathy of both legs and PTSD).  I would NEVER qualify for insurance anywhere.  I can't even continue physical therapy, because my plan only provides for 90 visits/per condition/per lifetime, and I used up that benefit  10 fucking years ago.  To continue, I would have to spend out of pocket $330/week, for the rest of my life, just to maintain my current level of physical ability.

This is on top of the, wait for it, $1200/month for my Rx.

Like I said, I consider myself lucky, because I am in contact with many other people in similar (healthwise) conditions, who don't have private insurance, and don't qualify for Medicare/Medicaid.

I would have to give up my LTD, declare bankruptcy, and go on the dole to obtain taxpayer subsidized insurance.

Obama doesn't have to sell me on anything, its McCain that has to close the deal, and all I've heard from him is a cheapskate, shortsighted, idealogical, mean, illogical plan.

I literally would be sharing a box under an overpass with a vet (and a big FUCK YOU to loofah boy on FixedNoise) with Sidney McCain enjoying my taxpayer paid presidential health plan.

Screw him and his evil henchmen.

I might be crazy... but are you seeing what I'm seeing?
